Ylaiza Perez

My name is Ylaiza Perez. While everyone in the professional world calls me Teacher Perez or TP, in my life, I am just Ylaiza. I was born in NY and raised in the Dominican Republic.

Growing up in a Latinx/Hispanic household comes with much responsibility. The classroom was a place of hiding oneself, but my math teacher said, “Nobody cannot allow you to participate in the competition except for yourself.” I did not understand what he was explaining, but I found his perspective now. Learning was my specialty. It was a recipe that not even the best sazon could have won. Using my voice, I made it into my superpower.
