I was born and educated in Linyi, China, where I completed my bachelor’s degree in 1998 before beginning my teaching career. In 2012, I won a national teaching competition and was selected to teach Chinese in Tennessee through the Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis, where I taught for three years. After my commitment was up, I went back to get a Master's degree and began teaching Math in Kentucky.
I am also a proud mother of a daughter who is currently a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis.
Today, I teach Algebra at a multilingual school, where all my students are multilingual learners. In my classroom, students bring with them a rich variety of languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, Dari, French, Pashto, and Chinese. This diversity shapes and inspires our learning environment every day.
For the past three years, I have been implementing the Modern Classrooms in my math classes, and it has truly transformed my teaching practice. This model has been a game-changer: empowering my multilingual learners to thrive in a blended, self-paced, and mastery-based environment. They not only enjoy the structure but also benefit greatly from the flexibility, ownership, and confidence it gives them in their learning journey.
